Reason For Being
This blog exists because movies are me. I have always loved them and in recent years, I have begun to spend more and more time seeing them, thinking about them, and finding my own perspective on them. My hope is that this can be a repository for that thought and perspective. My wife often tells me I spend too much time on movies not to put it all somewhere, so here we are.
My general sense is that the beauty of a film, like everything else, is in the eye of the beholder. Every year, studios of all sizes put out slates of movies, undergo the pageantry of awards season and closely track box office receipts in an effort to fine-tune their future slates. There is a science to this art.
For us, the moviegoing public, that means they are constantly trying to understand and adapt to our changing preferences. In an age where everything is digital and most things are instant, few stop to appreciate the patterns. This movie is like that movie; film after film is trying to do this; here's where we might be heading next. TastFilm is an effort to do all of the above.
Along with the everyday happenings in the industry, I will seek to offer that slow-cooked commentary that sometimes seems lost to us. I promise no click-bait. I promise thoughtful and honest commentary; and I promise to try to have fun.
